3 disasters – all at once

Reprinted from an email I received from Episcopal Relief and Development about the disaster efforts being made. The need to support is made especially urgent because there are 3 disasters being addressed right now.

Last month, disaster struck worldwide — and we need your help to provide relief and support to communities in need

Here’s what we’re up against:


This destructive Category 4 storm struck Southern Africa in March severely impacting communities in Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Malawi, flattening homes and causing widespread destruction. Thousands of people are without shelter and food, and hundreds have already died.
Help us provide emergency supplies such as gas cards, groceries and propane to those devastated by the flooding. In early March, a series of tornadoes tore through eastern Alabama, damaging structures in its 65-mile-long path. So far, 23 people have died, making it the deadliest tornado in the U.S. since 2013.

Help us coordinate with local partners to identify critical needs and reach communities in the path of the cyclone. Disastrous flooding has destroyed property in South Dakota. Several indigenous communities have been particularly impacted, and some residents have been stranded in their homes for more than two weeks.

For those who have been impacted by these disasters, this is just the beginning… And with the increasing number of disasters worldwide, there will be more emergencies on the horizon.
